About the practice

Our practice motto is “Feed the baby, save your sanity,” and we mean it. We are a Functional Lactation practice that takes an integrative approach. What does that mean?

That means that we focus far beyond the breast. With the patient in the driver seat and their goals always in mind, we dive deep to pull together the factors contributing to the root cause of your troubles. Listening to your health history, looking at your environment and considering your lifestyle, we spend time with each patient to make an individualized plan that works for them. Whether that is exclusive breastfeeding, weaning on day one, exclusive pumping or combo feeding, we can make it happen.

Our integrative approach is always evidence based and makes use of all of the appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal results. We are fortunate enough to have solid referrals to Occupational Therapists, Endocrinologists, GI specialists, Dentists, and much more. We are picky with our referrals because you deserve the best care possible.

About your clinician:

Kira Kim IBCLC

Kira Kim is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in private practice serving families on the North Shore of Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Public health, is a Clinical Herbalist and has studied out-of-hospital based midwifery care through Mercy in Action and the Massachusetts Midwives Alliance.  She will complete a second Bachelor’s in Biomedical Science with a minor in Chemistry from Salem State University in Fall 2026 as she is currently applying to medical school during the 2026-2027 application cycle.

She is the Past President of the Massachusetts Lactation Consultant Association, the former consumer chair on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Midwives Alliance and the President and Founder of The Boston Lactation Clinic, a non-profit aiming to serve Masshealth patients at no cost.

In addition to providing clinical lactation and infant feeding care, she teaches extensively on advanced topics in lactation and herbalism. You can find her in hospitals, outpatient clinics and on zoom holding regular case review sessions and small group education for IBCLCs, midwives, physicians, and other collaborating providers.

Whether she is in the office with patients or in an education setting, she is passionate about connecting with other people and meeting them where they are on their journey.

She firmly believes in the importance of alone time and you can often find her riding her bike, playing her piano or perusing antique shops for mid-century modern furniture. She lives by the beach with her best friend for life, their four rambunctious kids, and an old, lazy cat.
